About MAPLE & MAIN
Canada's Main Street, online: discovery, ownership intelligence and local commerce in one platform.
Why we built it
Canadians want to buy Canadian, and the information needed to do it is scattered, inconsistent and often wrong. A maple leaf on a package says nothing about who owns the company or where the product was made. Search results favour whoever spends the most, not whoever is down the street.
MAPLE & MAIN exists to close that gap. Every listing carries an ownership and origin assessment with its reasoning visible, so the choice to shop Canadian is a two second decision instead of an afternoon of research. And every independent business gets a surface where being local is an advantage rather than a disadvantage.
The purpose is plain: keep more Canadian spending inside Canada, and make the businesses that earn it easy to find.
Who it serves
Shoppers
One place to find what you need and see, before you buy, whether the money stays in Canada. Search, compare, scan a barcode in a store aisle, or browse your own province.
Main Street businesses
Independent shops, restaurants and services get a storefront that ranks, a claimable profile, and buyers who came looking for exactly what they sell.
Makers and manufacturers
Products actually made in Canada are separated from products merely sold here, so genuine manufacturing is rewarded rather than buried.
Farms and producers
Farm to table listings with delivery and pickup, seasonal availability and market days, in the same discovery surface as everything else.
Indigenous enterprises
Indigenous owned businesses carry their own signal and their own hub, surfaced on merit and never as a footnote.
Travel operators
Rail, air, stays and tours that move Canadians around their own country, alongside the businesses waiting at the other end.
How the Canadian signal is assessed
No self declared badges. The assessment runs the same way for every business, and the business always gets the final word on its own facts.
Step one
Public evidence
We read the business website and public records for ownership, head office, and where production happens.
Step two
Signal extraction
Ownership, manufacturing, assembly, sourcing and location are captured as separate signals, not one vague label.
Step three
Canadian Score
Those signals produce a score with its reasoning shown, so a shopper can see why a listing scored the way it did.
Step four
Owner confirmation
The business claims its profile, confirms or corrects the signals, and supplies evidence for a verified badge.
